If weather turns, what backup plan makes sense for Grand Canyon Rim to River?
Asked Feb 136 views1 answer
Forecast is mixed for my Grand Canyon backcountry permit date. Outlook mentions clear skies gave us big temperature swings between rim and river.. Route is South Kaibab descent with one night at Bright Angel area. What is a smart backup that still makes the permit day useful?

Pick one clear decision point before you start, then commit to it. If conditions slip, set a hard turnaround time instead of trying to force the full plan.
You can still have a great day by shortening the route and staying in the safest terrain.
