Base weight check before Bright Angel Campground:
We went South Kaibab to Bright Angel for variety starting at 6:50 AM. Summer heat made inner canyon challenging. Steep switchbacks require good pace management.
Gear that worked: Camp shoes, Approach shoes, Rain jacket.
Trekking poles saved knees on the descent.
Ratings: 4 overall, 3 difficulty, 4 scenery.
Just show up ready.
