Here is what worked (and what did not) on White Rim.
We went Shafer start w/ a clockwise White Rim line starting at 6:00 AM. Sun was strong in exposed stretches by late morning. Most of the route was in stable shape w/ minor rough patches.
Gear that worked: Trekking poles, Sunscreen, Camp shoes, Knife.
A simple dust layer and eye protection made a big difference.
Overall 4/5 difficulty 4/5 scenery 5/5.
Would do again in a heartbeat.
Tips
- Start earlier than you think.
- Carry a small trash bag.
- Bring one extra liter.
