Went minimal on Coyote Buttes South. Here is what made the cut.
We went Cottonwood Cove access to main formations starting at 5:10 AM. Winter visits required early starts for good light. No maintained trail, navigation skills required.
Gear that worked: Knife, Buff, Base layer.
Sun protection critical in exposed terrain.
Bottom line: Download your map before you lose service.
Grateful for this one.
