Animal encounters made White Rim special.
We went Shafer switchbacks into classic White Rim viewpoints starting at 6:00 AM. Sun was strong in exposed stretches by late morning. Road surface was hardpack w/ a few washboard sections.
Wildlife/nature notes: No close wildlife encounters during the route.
Do your homework first.
Tips
- Sunglasses are not optional.
- Tape hot spots before they blister.
- Wave at other hikers.
- Keep music in your ears only.
