Gear that made the difference on White Rim:
We went White Rim day segment from the Island in the Sky side starting at 5:10 AM. Dry air kept visibility sharp for most of the route. Most of the route was in stable shape w/ minor rough patches.
Gear that worked: Paper map, Rain jacket, Watch w/ altimeter, InReach.
A simple dust layer and eye protection made a big difference.
Quick scores: overall=4, difficulty=5, views=5
Short version: Tell someone your plan.
The kind of day that resets perspective.
