đĨ CAKNF Klamath National Forest 2026 Spring Prescribed Burning
Description
Last updated: 2026-03-16 --- The type of incident is Prescribed Fire and involves the following unit(s) Klamath National Forest. --- State: California --- Coordinates: Latitude: 41° 41 59 Longitude: -124° 49 33 --- NOTE: All fire perimeters and points are approximations. --- Incident Overview: With the onset of spring, conditions have become favorable for prescribed underburning to begin on the Klamath National Forest. Prescribed underburning mimics the role that natural fire has played in the fire-dependent ecosystems in the Klamath National Forest. Prescribed fire is used by fire managers to reduce surface and ladder fuels by introducing low intensity fire into an area under a predetermined set of weather and fuel conditions. Reducing fuels through prescribed burning can decrease fire behavior when wildfire occurs. That reduction in fire behavior can, in turn, lessen the risk to communities, infrastructure, natural resources, and habitat. Additional benefits of prescribed fire include improvement of overall forest health and increased resilience of wildlands to future wildfires.   --- Source: InciWeb | http://inciweb.wildfire.gov/incident-information/caknf-klamath-national-forest-2026-spring-prescribed-burning
