Navigation tips for a The Wave permit day on The Wave?

I have the permit and a general plan, but I do not want to get turned around. Route is Wire Pass route with waypoint checks at major slickrock turns. What is your go-to navigation setup?

Download an paper map backup before you leave cell service. Check bearings at obvious landmarks, not only when you feel lost.
If you have to choose, prioritize reliable nav over extra luxury gear.
