I have a The Wave permit date coming up in Vermilion Cliffs. I am choosing between a pre-dawn start and a 7 AM start, and my main concern is heat plus crowding on Wire Pass route with waypoint checks at major slickrock turns.

Start before sunrise if you can. A pre-dawn start usually gives you cooler temps, shorter lines at choke points, and more room to adjust pace if anything slows you down.
