Animal encounters made The Subway special. We went Left Fork trailhead to the lower Subway section starting at 5:35 AM. Cloud cover held until late morning and kept the slickrock from baking. Route finding was straightforward if we stayed on cairns and creek turns. Wildlife/nature notes: No major wildlife encounters, just tracks in wet sand. Preparation is everything. Tips - Study the route at home. - Know the bail-out options. - Tell someone your plan. - Check weather the morning of. - Turnaround time is not negotiable.
