Grand Canyon Rim to River was my first serious permit and it was amazing.
We went North Kaibab to inner canyon camp with a next-day climb out starting at 5:10 AM. Rim started cold and the canyon floor warmed up by late morning. Stone steps were dry by mid-morning but still rough on knees.
TLDR: Test new gear before the trip.
Trust your prep.
