The Subway at dusk hits different. We went Left Fork approach with a quick weather check at dawn starting at 5:35 AM. Wind stayed light, which made the river sections easier to handle. Route finding was straightforward if we stayed on cairns and creek turns. Midday light was harsh but the shadows added drama. TLDR: Start earlier than you think. The kind of day that resets perspective.
