We went Shafer start with a clockwise White Rim line starting at 6:25 AM. Dry air kept visibility sharp for most of the route. Road surface was hardpack with a few washboard sections.
Midday light was harsh but the shadows added drama.
Bottom line: Break in boots at home.
Still thinking about this one.
