GC Backcountry. 3-day. Start: 6:25 AM. 2 people. Route: Bright Angel down to river camps with a South Kaibab exit. Weather: Clear skies gave us big temperature swings between rim and river. Trail: Upper switchbacks held some icy patches before sun hit them. Water: We treated every water stop as optional and stayed over-prepared. Crowds: moderate Gear: Extra socks, Neoprene socks, Dry bag TLDR: Start earlier than you think if you want space on the first mile.
