Just got back from Grand Canyon Rim to River and had to write this down. We went North Kaibab to inner canyon camp with a next-day climb out starting at 6:00 AM. Clear skies gave us big temperature swings between rim and river. Upper switchbacks held some icy patches before sun hit them. Ratings: 5 overall, 4 difficulty, 4 scenery. TLDR: Test new gear before the trip. The boring prep stuff matters. Quick notes: - Backup headlamp batteries. - Know the signs of altitude. - First aid kit is mandatory. - Test new gear before the trip.
