Here is what worked (and what did not) on Grand Canyon Rim to River. We went South Kaibab descent w/ one night at Bright Angel area starting at 6:50 AM. Rim started cold and the canyon floor warmed up by late morning. Upper switchbacks held some icy patches before sun hit them. Gear that worked: Trekking poles, Lip balm, First aid. Sun shirt and electrolyte packets carried the second half of the day. Ratings: 4 overall, 4 difficulty, 4 scenery. Days like this are why I hike.
