The alarm went off at 5:10 AM and I was already awake.
We took Wire Pass route with waypoint checks at major slickrock turns with group of 5. Started around 5:10 AM when cold start turned into warm sun by mid-morning. The trail slickrock footing was solid where it stayed dry. No refill options at all, which drove our turnaround time.
Grateful for this one.
Quick notes:
- Have a turnaround time.
- Gaiters for scree.
- Poles help more than you think.
- Slow down on muddy sections.
- Test new gear before the trip.
