Went minimal on The Subway. Here is what made the cut.
We went Out-and-back through Left Fork from Wildcat Canyon side starting at 5:10 AM. Cool morning air helped us move fast before the canyon warmed up. Rock steps were stable, with a few muddy pockets by the creek.
Gear that worked: Trekking poles, Sun hoodie, Wide-brim hat.
A dry bag and warm layer were worth carrying even on a short day.
Overall 5/5. Difficulty 3/5. Scenery 5/5.
Bottom line: Have a turnaround time.
Trust your prep.
Quick notes:
- Study the route at home.
- Have a turnaround time.
