Late start, late finish. Grand Canyon Rim to River in the evening light.
We went South Kaibab descent with one night at Bright Angel area starting at 6:25 AM. Rim started cold and the canyon floor warmed up by late morning. Stone steps were dry by mid-morning but still rough on knees.
Light was best in the first two hours.
Ratings: 5 overall, 3 difficulty, 5 scenery.
Bottom line: Know where water is.
Preparation is everything.
Quick notes:
- Download your map before you lose service.
- Tell someone your plan.
- Turnaround time is not negotiable.
- Know where water is.
