The Wave prep checklist
If you are doing this soon, here is what mattered on our 2-day.
- Route: Wire Pass route with waypoint checks at major slickrock turns
- Start time: 6:25 AM
- Weather: Wind stayed mild and made exposed sections feel easier.
- Trail: Slickrock footing was solid where it stayed dry.
- Water: No refill options at all, which drove our turnaround time.
- Crowds: light
- Gear: Headlamp with fresh batteries, Sun hoodie
Two quick tips: Bring one extra liter if you are unsure about water. Keep snacks accessible so breaks stay short and clean.
Scorecard (out of 5): overall 4, difficulty 4, scenery 5, conditions 3.
