The Subway: blunt notes
Do not overthink it, but do not wing the basics either.
Route: Left Fork trailhead to the lower Subway section. Start: 5:35 AM. Crowds: moderate.
Weather and trail: Wind stayed light, which made the river sections easier to handle. Footing was solid on the dry benches and a little slick near water lines.
Water: Creek flow was moderate and easy to cross with poles.
Best advice: Pack a dry layer even if the forecast looks perfect.
