I have been coming here for years. The wave update.
We went main wave route with extra time for return navigation starting at 5:35 am. Wind stayed mild and made exposed sections feel easier. Sand sections were soft but easy to follow with track lines.
Tldr: study the route at home.
Preparation is everything.
