The Wave field notes - Crowds: crowded. - Crew: group of 5. - Start: 6:50 AM. - Route: Wire Pass route with waypoint checks at major slickrock turns. - Weather: Wind stayed mild and made exposed sections feel easier. - Trail: Slickrock footing was solid where it stayed dry. - Water: No on-route water, so we packed the full day carry. - Wildlife: No wildlife issues, mostly open desert with good visibility. - Gear that helped: Work gloves, Wind shell, Neoprene socks, Light traction What I would change next time: Download your map before you lose service. Tips - Download your map before you lose service. - Bring one extra liter if you are unsure about water. - Keep snacks accessible so breaks stay short and clean. - Start earlier than you think if you want space on the first mile. - Poles help more than people admit on slick or steep exits.
