Safety and comfort notes for Grand Canyon Rim to River Just got back from Grand Canyon Rim to River and wrote this while it is still fresh. We went North Kaibab to inner canyon camp with a next-day climb out with a 4 people and started around 6:50 AM. Weather: Rim started cold and the canyon floor warmed up by late morning. Trail: Main corridor tread was firm and easy to follow all day. Water: We treated every water stop as optional and stayed over-prepared. No surprises on the permit side, just do not count on cell service. It felt steady from start to finish. If you are on this route soon: set a turnaround time, keep a dry layer handy, and do not count on service. Small stuff that helps: If the trail is muddy, slow down instead of fighting it. Do not trust parking to work out at the last minute. Scorecard (out of 5): overall 5, difficulty 3, scenery 5, conditions 3. Tips - If the trail is muddy, slow down instead of fighting it. - Keep snacks accessible so breaks stay short and clean. - Do not trust parking to work out at the last minute. - Take photos of the permit and save them offline.
