Just got back from The Wave and wrote this while it is still fresh. We went Classic out-and-back from Wire Pass before heat builds with a group of 5 and started around 6:25 AM.
Weather: Wind stayed mild and made exposed sections feel easier. Trail: Sand sections were soft but easy to follow with track lines. Water: Water management was the main planning task for the day.
Permit check: had it pulled up before we hit the busy spots.
Overall it was a smooth day.
The part that surprised me was how much footing changed our pace.
Gear note: Keeping snacks and water accessible made the day smoother.
Wildlife: Only saw small reptiles near warm rock faces.
Ratings (1-5): overall 5, difficulty 3, scenery 5, conditions 3.

💡Tips from the Trip
💡
General
- •Do not trust parking to work out at the last minute.
- •Have a turnaround time before you get committed to the hardest section.
- •Bring one extra liter if you are unsure about water.
- •Poles help more than people admit on slick or steep exits.
- •Carry a small trash bag. You will find micro-trash.
