The Wave prep checklist
If you are doing this soon, here is what mattered on our 3-day.
- Route: Main Wave route with extra time for return navigation
- Start time: 5:10 AM
- Weather: Wind stayed mild and made exposed sections feel easier.
- Trail: Sand sections were soft but easy to follow with track lines.
- Water: No on-route water, so we packed the full day carry.
- Crowds: light
- Gear: Trekking poles, Work gloves, Light traction
Two quick tips: Poles help more than people admit on slick or steep exits. Poles help more than people admit on slick or steep exits.
Ratings (1-5): overall 5, difficulty 3, scenery 4, conditions 4.
