Base weight check before Big Bend Backcountry: We went Dodson and Blue Creek combo with a one-night camp starting at 6:50 AM. Cool morning temps made long exposed miles feel manageable. Tread was dry and clear with a few loose rock corners. Gear that worked: Base layer, Hiking boots. Light gloves helped on chilly starts before the sun popped. Would do again in a heartbeat.
