Gear that made the difference on Big Bend Backcountry:
We went Dodson and Blue Creek combo w/ a one-night camp starting at 5:35 AM. Cool morning temps made long exposed miles feel manageable. Route stayed obvious, w/ minor wash marks in low spots.
Gear that worked: Knife, Compass, GPS.
Light gloves helped on chilly starts before the sun popped.
