Went minimal on Big Bend Backcountry here is what made the cut. We went Chisos Basin entry with East Rim side mileage starting at 6:00 AM. Dry air and steady sun meant layers changed fast after sunrise. Route stayed obvious, with minor wash marks in low spots. Gear that worked: Watch with altimeter, InReach. Light gloves helped on chilly starts before the sun popped. Overall 5/5 difficulty 3/5 scenery 5/5. The boring prep stuff matters.
