Base weight check before Big Bend Backcountry:
We went Chisos Basin entry with East Rim side mileage starting at 5:35 AM. Wind on ridges was steady but never pushed us off pace. Route stayed obvious, with minor wash marks in low spots.
Gear that worked: GPS, Gaiters, Compass.
A simple buff pulled double duty for dust and sun.
Quick scores: overall=4, difficulty=3, views=4
Worth every bit of effort.
