Went minimal on Big Bend Backcountry. Here is what made the cut. We went Outer Mountain Loop sections from the Chisos side starting at 6:50 AM. Dry air and steady sun meant layers changed fast after sunrise. No major blowdown, just loose gravel in steep sections. Gear that worked: Sunscreen, Headlamp, Rain jacket. A simple buff pulled double duty for dust and sun. Quick scores: overall=4, difficulty=5, views=5 Worth every bit of effort.
