Logistics for Big Bend Backcountry
We started around 6:00 AM and the early start made the whole day easier.
Route we took: Outer Mountain Loop sections from the Chisos side.
We kept the permit handy and it saved time when someone asked to see it.
Conditions were straightforward: Wind on ridges was steady but never pushed us off pace. Tread was dry and clear with a few loose rock corners. Cache strategy helped us keep pack weight under control.
This one felt like a win from the first mile.
If you want less stress: Download your map before you lose service.
