Base weight check before Big Bend Backcountry:
We went Dodson and Blue Creek combo with a one-night camp starting at 6:25 AM cool morning temps made long exposed miles feel manageable. Tread was dry and clear with a few loose rock corners.
Gear that worked: Soft flasks, Compass, Offline maps, GPS.
Sun hoodie and bigger water carry were non-negotiable.
Check conditions before you go.
