Gear that made the difference on Big Bend Backcountry:
We went Outer Mountain Loop sections from the Chisos side starting at 5:35 AM. Wind on ridges was steady but never pushed us off pace. Route stayed obvious, w/ minor wash marks in low spots.
Gear that worked: Knife, Electrolytes, Lighter, Lip balm.
A simple buff pulled double duty for dust and sun.
Short version: Move over for faster hikers.
Questions welcome.
