Fauna notes from Big Bend Backcountry. We went Outer Mountain Loop sections from the Chisos side starting at 5:10 AM. Cool morning temps made long exposed miles feel manageable. Route stayed obvious, w/ minor wash marks in low spots. Wildlife/nature notes: Bird activity near camp was high around sunrise. Bottom line: Wave at other hikers. Days like this are why I hike.
