Route: Chisos Basin entry with East Rim side mileage.
Weather: Dry air and steady sun meant layers changed fast after sunrise.
Trail: No major blowdown, just loose gravel in steep sections.
Water: We treated every known source as uncertain and carried extra.
Crowds: moderate
Gear: Trekking poles, Wind shell, Work gloves, Light traction
