Solo on Big Bend Backcountry. Just me and the trail. We went Chisos Basin entry with East Rim side mileage starting at 6:25 AM. Cool morning temps made long exposed miles feel manageable. Tread was dry and clear with a few loose rock corners. Ratings: 5 overall, 3 difficulty, 4 scenery. Short version: First aid kit is mandatory. Preparation is everything. Quick notes: - Turnaround time is not negotiable. - Wave at other hikers. - First aid kit is mandatory. - Know where water is. - Tell someone your plan.
