First time doing Big Bend Backcountry and WOW. We went Outer Mountain Loop sections from the Chisos side starting at 5:10 AM. Cool morning temps made long exposed miles feel manageable. No major blowdown, just loose gravel in steep sections. Quick scores: overall=4, difficulty=3, views=4 The boring prep stuff matters. Quick notes: - Check weather the morning of. - Have a turnaround time. - Slow down on muddy sections. - Know where water is. - Turnaround time is not negotiable.
