Data from Big Bend Backcountry:
Route: Outer Mountain Loop sections from the Chisos side. Weather: Wind on ridges was steady but never pushed us off pace.. Trail: No major blowdown, just loose gravel in steep sections.. Water: We treated every known source as uncertain and carried extra.. Crowds: moderate.
Overall 5/5. Difficulty 3/5. Scenery 4/5.
The boring prep stuff matters.
