What you need to know before Big Bend Backcountry: We went Dodson and Blue Creek combo with a one-night camp starting at 4:45 AM. Cool morning temps made long exposed miles feel manageable. Route stayed obvious, with minor wash marks in low spots. Ratings: 5 overall, 5 difficulty, 4 scenery. Bottom line: Trust the cairns. Still thinking about this one.
