Big Bend Backcountry at dusk hits different.
We went Chisos Basin entry with East Rim side mileage starting at 6:25 AM. Cool morning temps made long exposed miles feel manageable route stayed obvious, with minor wash marks in low spots.
Midday light was harsh but the shadows added drama.
Quick scores: overall=4, difficulty=3, views=5
Would do again in a heartbeat.
Quick notes:
- Study the route at home.
- Keep music in your ears only.
- Be friendly at the trailhead.
- Trust the cairns.
- Physical map as backup.
