Big Bend Backcountry. day. Start: 4:45 AM. group of 3. Route: Dodson and Blue Creek combo with a one-night camp. Weather: Wind on ridges was steady but never pushed us off pace. Trail: Route stayed obvious, with minor wash marks in low spots. Water: We treated every known source as uncertain and carried extra. Crowds: light Gear: Dry bag, Wind shell, Light traction TLDR: Bring one extra liter if you are unsure about water.
