Quality over speed on Big Bend Backcountry. We went Outer Mountain Loop sections from the Chisos side starting at 6:25 AM. Wind on ridges was steady but never pushed us off pace. Tread was dry and clear w/ a few loose rock corners. Short version: Bring the rain layer even if clear. Do your homework first. Tips - Bring one extra liter. - Bring the rain layer even if clear. - Carry a small trash bag. - Pack a dry layer.
