If you are prepping for Big Bend Backcountry, read this first. We went Chisos Basin entry w/ East Rim side mileage starting at 6:50 AM. Cool morning temps made long exposed miles feel manageable. Tread was dry and clear w/ a few loose rock corners. Key considerations: Gaiters for scree. Check conditions before you go.
