Big Bend Backcountry terrain assessment. We went Chisos Basin entry with East Rim side mileage starting at 6:50 AM. Dry air and steady sun meant layers changed fast after sunrise. No major blowdown, just loose gravel in steep sections. Short version: Turnaround time is not negotiable. Would do again in a heartbeat. Quick notes: - Turnaround time is not negotiable. - Take photos of the permit. - Tell someone your plan.
