Flora notes from Big Bend Backcountry.
We went Chisos Basin entry with East Rim side mileage starting at 6:00 AM. Dry air and steady sun meant layers changed fast after sunrise. Route stayed obvious, with minor wash marks in low spots.
Wildlife/nature notes: Bird activity near camp was high around sunrise.
Short version: Bring the rain layer even if clear.
Do your homework first.
Quick notes:
- Tape hot spots before they blister.
- Bring the rain layer even if clear.
