Animal encounters made Big Bend Backcountry special. We went Chisos Basin entry w/ East Rim side mileage starting at 6:50 AM. Cool morning temps made long exposed miles feel manageable. Tread was dry and clear w/ a few loose rock corners. Wildlife/nature notes: Bird activity near camp was high around sunrise. Ratings: 5 overall, 3 difficulty, 5 scenery. Check conditions before you go.
