Last updated: 2026-06-29 --- The type of incident is Wildfire and involves the following unit(s) Canyon Country District. --- State: Utah --- Coordinates: Latitude: 39° 0 28 Longitude: 109° 3 31 --- NOTE: All fire perimeters and points are approximations. --- Incident Overview: The Snyder Fire started on Saturday, June 27th during a Red Flag Warning with gusty winds, low relative humidity and dry fuel. Engines, crews and aircraft were used during initial suppression efforts.  Due to extreme fire behavior, crews were moved back to staging areas for their safety on Saturday night.  Crews returned to suppression efforts when conditions improved. The public is asked to avoid the area due to extreme fire behavior and to not hamper firefighting efforts.Evacuations and pre-evacuations have been issued by the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office. Hours of operation are 8 am to 8 pm. Displaced residents can bring cats and dogs in kennels.
