Description
Fire managers are responding to two lightning fires in a remote areas Olympic National Park. The Mount Tom Creek Fire has burned 69 acres 5 miles west-northwest of Mount Olympus. The Mt. Barnes Fire has burned 0.5 acres 1.5 miles southeast of Mt. Barnes. Firefighters are using indirect confinement tactics as part of a full-suppression strategy. Backpackers are encouraged to consider alternative routes to the Hoh River Trail should fire activity increase.
