When does Tongariro Northern Circuit booking open?
For stays from 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2027, bookings opened on Thursday 21 May 2026 at 9:30 am New Zealand time. DOC had not published 2027/28 dates on 29 October 2026.
Is the Tongariro Northern Circuit open in 2026/27?
Yes, as a changed route. The Great Walk did not operate in 2025/26 while Oturere Hut was replaced. For 2026/27 it starts at Mangatepopo Carpark and ends at Whakapapa Village, and the section from Whakapapa Village to Mangatepopo Hut is closed after the 2025 Tongariro fire.
How much does the Tongariro Northern Circuit cost?
From 23 October to 30 April a hut night is NZ$44 per adult at the New Zealand rate and NZ$66 at the international rate, and a campsite is NZ$19 or NZ$28. From 1 May to 22 October it is NZ$25 for a hut and NZ$10 for a campsite.
